Welcome to Parley Ocean School, a virtual education portal of Parley for the Oceans.
Parley for the Oceans is a global environmental organization and collaboration
network where creators, thinkers and leaders raise awareness for the beauty and
fragility of the oceans and take action against the major threats of plastic pollution,
climate change and overfishing. There is no magic fix for complex ocean issues, but there
are simple steps we can all take. Everyone has a role to play, therefore collaboration is
the key. It all starts with knowing.
This virtual space — our Parley Ocean School learning portal — is dedicated to education
for action. It's a tool for connecting curious minds to the knowledge, tools and inspiration
for creating change. And it's free.
Our goal is to remove barriers to education and amplify access to the wonders of the oceans.
As you take courses, you will deepen your understanding about the beauty and fragility of
our planet's largest ecosystem, and learn new ways of creating, thinking and living on
this fast-changing ocean-covered planet called Earth.
Topics are varied and cover everything from what’s at the bottom of the marine food
chain to what you can do to repurpose plastics. By navigating and taking the courses you will:
Learn first hand from ocean experts and legends like Dr. Sylvia Earle and Captain Paul Watson about what’s really happening in the oceans, how we got to where we are and what actions we can take now;
Discover ocean wonders, from translucent salps that help regulate the climate to immortal jellyfish that might be able to live forever;
Dive into the world of corals and several marine species, understand their importance and how you can play a role to support their preservation;
Understand the dimension of plastic debris in the oceans and discover how plastic waste can be turned into something beautiful and valuable;

The Parley Ocean School portal and program is not numerically graded. This is intentional. Instead of being concerned with grades and scores, we’d like you to focus on interacting with new information about the oceans and building up your own skill set and community so that you can become a better advocate and leader of change. Approach Parley Ocean School with an open mind, and as an opportunity to follow your curiosity, deepen your knowledge and engage in the oceans movement. Most importantly, together with people around the world, we will explore what we can all do collectively and as individuals. The power for change lies in every one of us, every day. By demanding and choosing better, and harnessing the power of creativity and collaboration, we help shape a new way of living — one that can synchronize the systems of humankind with the ecosystems of nature.
